Western Star is giving customers the opportunity to design the next heavy-duty show truck
Remember last year when Western Star invited truckers to design their heavy-duty show truck for the Mid-American Trucking Show? Well, they’re doing it again.
Voting is now open in the first round of this crowd-sourcing design project, known as Design Our Star II. If you missed the fun last year, here’s how it works. Step by step, Western Star will invite votes to determine each key component of the to-be-built truck. You can vote (once) for each of the components as they are presented, in this order:
- Model
- Application
- Sleeper
- Engine
- Interior
- Custom paint
- Chrome accessories
For each voting round, Western Star will offer specific choices. The model round includes four options:
- Western Star 4700 – designed to meet virtually any demanding application, this all-new model is budget-conscious yet rugged and reliable. It comes in set-back or set-forward configuration.
- Western Star 4800 – designed with “right truck, right job” in mind, this model has the shortest BBC and offers the most options. This one is often spec’d in twin steer.
- Western Star 4900 – designed to give you the perfect blend of power and versatility for the heaviest heavy-duty applications, without sacrificing style of comfort. Also available with set-forward or set-back configuration.
- Western Star 5700XE – included for the first time this year, this heavy-duty truck has it all – strength, beauty and efficiency. The Optimus Prime truck in the movie Transformers 4 was based on the 5700XE.
Not just voting, but prizes, too.
Last year Western Star gave away hundreds of branded merchandise items during their Design Our Star project. They said they had lots of fun doing that, so prizes can be yours again this year. A new set of giveaways will be available for each voting round, to encourage you to continue participating.
It’s easy to enter. Just click to enter the prize drawing when you visit the Design Our Star II web page to vote.
Last year’s winner was a Western Star 4900EX with a 70’s theme, and it was something to behold. What will the 2016 truck be like? You can have a say in that. Vote for your favorite model right now, then keep returning every week or two over the next couple of months to vote for each new component as design of the truck progresses.
Of course you’ll also want to make plans to attend MATS 2016, so you can see the unveiling of the show truck in person.
