Get The Truck You REALLY Want Without The Hassle Of A Bid!
Dealerships and Municipalities alike were unhappy with the expiration of the New York State OGS (Office of General Services) Heavy Duty Truck Contract, which came to an end on January 1st of this year. Despite numerous conversations with OGS, as well as Highway Superintendents and vendors, there has been no movement on creating a new Heavy Duty Truck Contract. This has meant a large amount of work has been levied on Municipalities who have been forced to revert back to doing things the old way; by bidding. Now certainly not all Municipalities are against bidding, and the option to bid remained available even when the OGS contract was in place. However, with the contract’s expiration there was no choice; bidding was the only way to purchase a truck. This meant even longer hours for Highway Superintendents who had to decide on how they wanted to “spec” a truck; an extremely tedious process. Not to mention the amount of work added to Municipalities’ lawyers, clerks, supervisors, and boards. The process of wading through bids can be frustrating.
Municipalities now have the option to purchase from a wide selection of trucks and specs directly off of Oneida County Bid #1571, for less than what it may cost in an original bid. Prices based on the Oneida County spec, are available for everyone to see so Superintendents know exactly what they’re paying for. Prices have also been provided for options such as automatic transmissions, diagnostics packages, and extended engine warranties. Superintendents can now purchase the truck they really want without the hassle of a bid.
