Hyundai Construction Introduces New Compaction Line
Hyundai construction has recently introduced their new HR series of compaction equipment — 4 models, including three drum rollers and a soil compactor. (Note: These machines are not yet available in the North American Market)
The new compaction line is a strategic partnership between Hyundai and Atlas Weyhausen, a German construction equipment manufacturer. The move completes Hyundai’s line-up of construction equipment, making them a one-stop OEM for all your jobsite needs.
Let’s meet the new equipment.
Drum rollers, sized to fit your jobs.
The HR30T-9 is a small, dual-roller machine with a nearly 50” drum width and a top drive speed of over 6 miles per hour. The larger HR120C-9 and HR140C-9 each have a 83” drum width and a top drive speed of about 7.5 mph.
All three Hyundai compaction rollers feature articulated pendulum joints that provide a very low center of gravity while allowing both front and rear end to run in a single track. The machines offer excellent maneuverability, thanks to 35o angle and 12 o pivoting angle.
Drive units have high pressure-dependent HA control. Tractive force is continuously adjusted, automatically, ensuring both the axle and the roller drum always maintain maximum traction. In addition to more efficient traction control, this system significantly enhances climbing ability, making these machines particularly effective for dike or embankment construction.
Robust hydraulic motors exert control at the skid threshold, and can be oversteered if needed. The system doesn’t require electronic regulation, yet it’s outstandingly stable.
Optional ECO speed further boosts efficiency of power output to hydraulic units, which means you can reduce motor rotation speed by about 400 rpm compared to nominal rotation speed, without sacrificing any of the equipment’s overall performance.
Because the hydraulic system operates automatically, it can function at peak capacity without affecting centrifugal force or vibration frequencies. You get a quieter cabin, and lower fuel consumption, too. And the driver always has the option to manually control the drive unit.
Hyundai’s HL770CC-9 soil compactor.
You’ll get plenty of power from the Cummins QSL 4-cycle, turbocharged engine. It can deliver 227 horsepower at 2000 rpm. But perhaps the most notable feature of Hyundai’s new soil compactor is the foot design.
The self-cleaning plates on the HL770CC-9 are longer, the same length and overall diameter as the feet. This creates greater efficiency for all types of job conditions and provides a smooth ride, even on hard surfaces. You get less thumping and shock loading on haul roads. And the longer self-cleaning plates improve the machine’s ability to chop up even large slabs of material deposited by dump trucks or graders, achieving better results, faster.
There’s one more change that might seem insignificant at first glance. The outside row of feet have been redesigned with a slightly shallower depth than the rest of the feet, which equalizes load distribution across the drum. That improves wear resistance, because the outside tow typically carries a proportionately heavier load.
The soil compactor’s unique blade geometry supports tilt angle up to 30%. For general blading, the blade is set for a 3.5% roll forward, which increases slightly as the blade is lifted. Applying tilt rolls the blade back, to increase corner ripping capability. Trunions are widely spaced, and they’re self-greasing.
The soil compactor’s cleaner beams sit at a higher level, which reduces wear, enables wider spacing of the blade trunions and makes for easy visual checking, adjustment and maintenance. The locking pin is fitted with high-wear digger tips which further improves durability.
Whatever the job, when you’re ready for new compaction equipment, Hyundai Construction is ready to roll.
